Mission of Folklore Ensemble Mezdra

For 77 years since its establishment, the mission of Ensemble Mezdra has been to preserve and develop the rich heritage of Bulgarian dance folklore, to pass it on to future generations, and to promote it internationally through its performances on the global stage.

Repertoire

The ensemble's repertoire features dances from all ethnographic regions of Bulgaria and includes works choreographed by some of the most esteemed figures in Bulgarian folk choreography, such as Prof. Kiril Dzhenev, Prof. Daniela Dzheneva, Ivan Todorov, Todor Bekirski, Todor Karapchanski, Kiril Haralampiev, and others.

Ensemble Mezdra: Organizer of the International Folklore Festival
International Folklore Festival "The Folklore Magic of Mezdra", an event held annually since 2021. It is the most significant cultural event in the municipality of Mezdra with an international scope.
Through this festival, the ensemble fosters future friendships between diverse cultures, united by the enchanting magic of folklore and dance.

"​Let's Preserve the Bulgarian Spirit"

The ensemble has earned numerous international awards from competitions and festivals and has been honored with an honorary diploma titled "Guardians of Folklore Traditions in Dance Art" by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Bulgaria.

Currently, the ensemble consists of students, university graduates, and professionals from various fields. Its membership exceeds 200 dancers, divided into six age groups and one representative dance ensemble, which features the finest dancers who have graduated from the ensemble's school.
